CFA challenge
The Department of Economics and Management is proud to have participated in many student competitions organized by the CFA Institute. The teams of our department have obtained successful results in the CFA Research Challenge and CFA Fund Management Competition, often ranking in the first positions of the Italian competitions. In particular, in 2018, our team won the Italian Research Challenge and went to Dublin for the final competition.
It is worth mentioning that two of our lecturers are CFA professional members.
The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition that provides university students with hands-on mentoring and intensive training in financial analysis. Students work in teams to research and analyze a publicly-traded company - sometimes even meeting face-to-face with company management. Each team writes a research report on their assigned company with a buy, sell, or hold recommendation and may be asked to present and defend their analysis to a panel of industry professionals.
In addition, the collaboration and friendship among the students who participated in the competition is long-lasting. Find out more.

The competition
Each Research Challenge season leverages the efforts of over 140 CFA member societies, 3,500 member volunteers, and more than 5,000 students from over 1,000 universities.
Local-level competitions are organized and judged by CFA Institute society members and volunteers who function as local hosts. Local Hosts are responsible for:
- Securing subject companies
- Recruiting volunteers (such as team mentors)
- Inviting universities in their geographic region to participate
The winning university team from each local competition advances to one of the three regional competitions.
The regional and global competitions are hosted by CFA Institute in the Americas; the Asia Pacific; and Europe, the Middle East, and Africa regions. The winning teams from each regional competition advance to the Global Final, where one team emerges as the global champion of the CFA Institute Research Challenge.
